NAILBOMB came together in the mid-90s as a side project of SEPULTURA’s Max Cavalera and producer/sound engineer Alex Newport.
„Point Blank“ is their only studio album, originally released in 1994 on Roadrunner Records.
The album combines the thrash metal gut rage of SEPULTURA with the strict industrial of FUDGE TUNNEL – which was a big hit on the festival scene at the time.
The album’s guest list features almost the entire line-up of SEPULTURA (Andreas Kisser, Igor Cavalera); they are joined by Dino Cazares of FEAR FACTORY and Ritchie Bujnowski of WICKED DEATH.
The first track, „Wasting Away“ appeared in the 1995 film „To Die For“, while „Exploitation“ is a cover of British crust punkers DOOM.
Between merciless riffs and the percussive roar of percussion, the lyrics remain absolutely nihilistic at all times, while the album feeds on left-field sampler contributions that make the whole thing seem disoriented and inhuman.
„Point Black“ goes full throttle from the first note, is edgy and loud as hell.
